Synopsis
The purpose of this position is to perform a variety of clerical duties to support the case workers for the Richland County Child Support Agency.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Other duties may be required and assigned.
- Operate a multi-line telephone system.
- Provide customer service in-person and over the telephone with the ability to explain basic information regarding the child support program and document all communication with case participants.
- Process incoming and outgoing mail and faxes.
- File information related to child support cases.
- Receipt customer payments in person and by phone.
- Assist the child support case workers in obtaining information for the purpose of locating, establishing, and enforcing child support cases.
- Scan and e-file documents for electronic retention.
- Under the direction of the caseworkers, set up appointments, submit correspondence to case participants, employers, and attorneys.
- Schedule genetic testing appointments, complete necessary paperwork, and conduct genetic tests. E-file any applicable documentation.
- Obtain wage information on case participants for case workers to utilize in the review process.
- Complete local investigations on non-custodial parents to determine contact information and employment status utilizing a variety of local, state, and national databases and resources.
- Prepare service paperwork and submit to the county sheriff’s office or service processors. E-file affidavits regarding service and submit invoices to accounts payable.
- Perform data entry accurately and efficiently.
- Maintain confidentiality of client information as required by State and Federal Regulations including IRS Data Security and Recordkeeping requirements.
- Participate in trainings including computer system training.
- Attend trainings and meetings.
- Performs other duties as assigned or apparent.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One year of relevant experience in an office setting.
- Or an equivalent combination of education/training/experience to provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Bilingual preferred.
Special Requirement
As a post-offer pre-employment condition, a criminal background check conducted by the State Department of Justice (DOJ) including FBI fingerprinting must be completed and passed. Richland County may disqualify an applicant if the position’s responsibilities are substantially related to the applicant’s criminal history.
